Description
Writing an essay can be a complex and intricate process. Writing a strong essay requires knowledge, understanding, and practice. Students (and many adults!) often struggle with organizing their ideas and information, particularly in essay writing. Understanding the purpose of the various parts of essays and learning to plan and write strategically in a variety of modes is a valuable skill.
The Essays lessons are designed to help students conquer text-based essays and write with confidence. Starting with a unit on the basics of text-based essays (including introductions, conclusions, finding supporting evidence, analyzing the prompt, and so on), students then move to units on writing text-based opinion essays, text-based informational essays, and writing literary analyses. Each unit leads students through the essay writing process, gradually releasing students to write independently with confidence.
